The Dragon Boat Festival holiday is approaching, and trains, due to their speed and relatively low ticket Price, have become a popular mode of transportation. Although trains are fast, convenient, and affordable, there are also many drawbacks in crowded carriages. How can we ensure our own and others' fire safety on the train? Here, Chongqing Yubei Fire Department reminds the public to remember five precautions for train escape:
First, if the fire is small, passengers can use the fire-fighting equipment on the train to extinguish the fire and, under the guidance of the crew, evacuate from the carriage to the adjacent safe carriage in an orderly manner.
Second, use the front and rear doors of the carriage to escape. Each carriage has a walkway approximately 20 meters long and 80 centimeters wide, with manual or automatic doors at both ends leading to adjacent carriages. When a fire occurs in a certain carriage, these passageways are the main escape routes for trapped personnel. Passengers should quickly use the exits at both ends of the carriage to escape the fire scene in an orderly manner.
Third, use the carriage windows to escape. The windows in the carriage are generally 70×60 centimeters and are fitted with double glazing. In the event of a fire, once the train comes to a standstill, if the fire is too intense, trapped personnel can use hard objects to break the window glass and escape through the window.
Fourth, when the fire is large and smoke is spreading, passengers can escape from the fire by walking low through the interconnecting passages of each carriage.
Fifth, each carriage of the train is connected by couplers. When the fire threatens adjacent carriages, on a flat section of track, the couplers should be removed to separate the carriages, protecting other adjacent carriages and preventing the fire from spreading.
