As summer approaches, temperatures gradually rise, the weather becomes dry, and electricity and gas consumption for daily life increase dramatically. Slight carelessness in production and daily life can easily lead to fires and disasters. Therefore, Chongqing Jiangbei Fire Department reminds citizens to keep in mind the following four points for fire prevention in summer:
1. Carefully select decorating materials; keep painting away from fire sources. Indoor decoration should use flame-retardant or non-combustible materials, and electrical wiring should be laid out rationally. When painting, open doors and windows to ventilate flammable gases. Do not smoke or use fire in the room while painting.
2. Fire extinguishers are a treasure; they are essential for motor vehicles. In the hot summer, spontaneous combustion of motor vehicles occurs frequently. Therefore, vehicle owners should pay attention to regular maintenance and repair of their vehicles and equip them with special vehicle fire extinguishers, just in case. Do not place gas lighters, air fresheners, mosquito repellents, etc., on the dashboard, as these items can expand when heated, easily causing explosions and fires.
3. Don't panic if electrical appliances catch fire; cut off the power before extinguishing the fire. Electricity consumption increases dramatically in the summer. If a television, induction cooker, or other household appliance catches fire, do not pour water on it. Turn off the power first, and then use a dry powder fire extinguisher or a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.
4. Mosquito coils have a high ignition temperature; slight carelessness can easily cause fires. More and more people use mosquito coils to repel mosquitoes on summer nights. When a mosquito coil is lit, the area within 1 centimeter of the flame can reach a high temperature of 130 degrees Celsius, which is enough to ignite low-ignition-point items such as mosquito nets, clothing, and paper. Therefore, when repelling mosquitoes, the lit mosquito coil should be placed on a metal stand, and the stand should be placed in a non-combustible box. Keep it away from mosquito nets, bedding, clothing, and other combustibles.
